I've had two days without the hubby here, and it's been okay.  The nicest thing is not to have the radio and/or TV on all the time.  I hadn't realized just how much room noise came with my DH -- bless him!  *smooches in absentia*

My DS has been here, of course; he had the weekend off for a change.  He has not bothered me too much with pestering to watch this or that DVD with him -- but we did do some watching of things together which was most pleasant.

Things I hadn't realized came with the territory of being mistress of the house were shoveling snow -- I though we were going to have a thaw this week??  Guess not.  We had an inch or two fall last night, so I shoveled at 11 pm (with the help of the DS), so as not to have it all be frozen over when the freezing rain fell later.  No freezing rain came however -- not yet, anyway -- but now I don't have to shovel today, yay!  I will save my energy for tomorrow night, when we are expecting 5-8 inches.  :-/

We do have a snowblower, a wee one that works well on light snow, but I figure, if I have to go out and deal with the stuff, I might as well get Weightwatchers activity points for it.  I can do the whole mess in half an hour if it's not too heavy, but I can go longer without too much trouble.  My back is a bit random when it comes to lifting, but my health is otherwise excellent, so all in all, shoveling snow is not such a bad thing.  But I do miss having the hubby around who would have the snow cleared by the time I got my coat on.

Another thing I had to deal with was putting the garbage and recycling out for pickup this morning.  Normally, not a problem -- just put it out the night before and sleep in the next day.  But due to the supposed freezing rain which never came, I didn't want all our cardboard and newspapers out on the curb getting all yucky, so I set the alarm for early early, to put the recycling out.  That wouldn't have been so much of a problem either -- except I was a bad girl and didn't go to bed until *mumble mumble* so the alarm sounding came very early indeed!  Still, it only took a few minutes, and then I went back to bed.  Where I dreamed about young hooligans helping themselves to treasures in my recycling and spreading it all over the neighborhood!

Other unexpected jobs I was in charge of with hubby away were paying for a book my DH won on Ebay -- he put in a bid just before he left, and no one else bid, so he got it.  I didn't know what to do for that, but lo and behold, Ebay makes it so easy, I was amazed!  I was even able to change our address midstream, without any complications.  Makes me want to go out and bid on some things, heh!

Last, but not least, I had to record the Super Bowl, because DH was afraid he might not get a chance to see it up in the woods where he is skiing with the guys.  After realizing shortly before the game that the wires to the VCR were not hooked up right, I figured that out, then got it going.  I started the tape too early -- though the pregame stuff was interesting -- and it wasn't long enough.  There were only two minutes left in the game when I realized the tape wasn't going to get it all.  I had to decide whether or not to risk missing something important at the end by running out of tape, or switching to another before anything unmissable happened.  I switched, and didn't miss anything except some commercials during a timeout.  Whew!  And I definitely needed to have the end of that game on tape!  (Alas, that it wasn't the Packers!)

Later DH called to tell me he had seen the game at a sports bar!  *sighs*

Anyway, DS goes to work in about an hour, and then I'll have the place to myself.  If I can do without having a nap,  I think I'm going to try to get my writing brain in gear.  It would be a crime to waste hours of uninterrupted solitude that can be spent writing!

LOL! Put your hands up and back away from the Ebay slowly. It's addictive. ;)

I am sure that despite having seen the game, your DH will be most appreciative of your care in capturing the ending. From what I gather, it was an exciting game.

I'm afraid I had my first really bad spell since beginning WW. From Friday night until last night I was less than careful and basically ate my way through the weekend. Except for the very bad pizza, I tried to make the lesser evil choices but I am sort of starting from scratch today. Oh well. Stress eating is my nemesis.

There are about 50 posts for me to catch up on and I am being forced to go to a dumpy bar to mingle with the HBA people at a charity event tomorrow night. I'd rather just give a donation and stay home, thanks. But Cindy wants me to be visible prior to the MAME judging so I must go. She's still being passive aggressive today. I am just trying to be wide open to possibilities.

I do hope you get some lovely writing time!

I had a very bad low blood sugar day yesterday, because I left eating breakfast until late, so I was playing catch up all day. So I'm way over on points this week so far, too. Ugh! But today's a new day, with me as well as with you! Bad times happen, but the WW program is still good, and it's easy enough to get back on track.

I hope Cindy won't be dragging you everywhere to put you on display, and then be mean to you at home! Thinking of you today, my dear, and praying for a better week!

"Put your hands up and back away from the Ebay slowly. It's addictive. ;)" LOL!!

My younger brother and his two daughter arrived about 10 minutes before the game started. We had a brief discussion and agreed we were cheering for the Giants. WOW! What a great game. The defensive lines were extraordinary. And the last two minutes!!! We cheered and moaned and had a fabulous time together. He's in advertising, so we watched the ENTIRE proceedings, discussing the effectiveness of the commercials. LOL! It was great. Hope next year is as much fun as this year. :-D

Congrats to DS and glad DH was able to see the game!

It is much quieter when they aren't around, isn't it?

The Super Bowl actually lived up to its name this year; I have no love for the Pats, so I was cheering NY all the way; when they pulled out that touchdown I was cheering verrrry loudly.

And then, of course, Belachik was an ass, so there you go. I've decided that Tom Brady is far cuter than previously thought though, so that was at least something.
