It's raining today. We are expecting something like four inches, so the job before me as soon as I finish here is to head down to the basement and clean up down there -- at least enough to get stuff off the floor. Just in case! Every time I go down there lately, I think, "Man, I need to do some cleaning and arranging down here!" But I never get to it. It's also been pretty cold down there this winter, but it's not so bad today.
We should see most of our snow gone by the end of the rain. We have only a patch or two left in our yard where that part is shaded by the garage. It's nice to see the grass, even if it's not very green! I'm sure we haven't seen the last of the snow just yet, though. With the way we've been getting hit with it this winter, I'm expecting it to snow a couple of times yet in April -- maybe even in May! It's happened before! ;-)
The big news in my family that has us all abuzz is that my brother was laid off last week, after 17 years in his job. He was the last one hired in his department, so he was the first to go -- a number of others in the small company were laid off as well. The company has been struggling, but my brother was still not expecting this. It's hit him hard, but we think it is going to turn out for good. He's had nothing but unending stress and frustration over the last few years with this job, to the point that I worry about his health, so this could be the push he needed to look for something different. Being laid off now while the company still has some finances left, he at least is getting good severance pay and they are reimbursing him for vacation days not taken and paying for him to go to a counseling seminar for laid off workers. I'm planning a visit over that way this weekend, so I'm going to get together with him for a nice brother/sister chat.
I'm sure there is more news of me, but I can't think of it now -- and the basement is calling!
Have a good day, my friends, even if it's grey and rainy like it is here. ;-)
