Here's what I've been doing lately, in a nutshell:
- finally got the wee apartment set up, though we still need a bed for the guests that are coming through. We had friends of ours planning to spend the night before we even had a place rented, so at least now we can say, "come ahead, we're ready!"
- dashed up to Wisconsin last week to visit the DS, the inlaws, and my dad, in that order. Both DH's folks and my dad needed visiting and help around the house because of health concerns. Thankfully all is back on track healthwise with them. My dad is actually doing very well, it was my brother who really needed the break, so I went over for two nights and cooked for my dad so my brother could stay home for a bit. It was good. I also had time with DS on both ends of the visit north, so we are good for a couple of weeks.
- we are getting to know our way around our part of Chicago. We like it here. ;-) It takes major planning to go to church, though. We haven't found a good church to attend as yet, so we have to use the internet to search for places fairly close by -- and since internet is not available at home yet, we have to think ahead. That's what we are doing now, sitting at the library with our two computers, googling to our hearts content.
- yesterday was our anniversary -- number 27. We didn't celebrate yesterday, too busy, but today (as soon as we are done googling churches) we are heading downtown on the train to find us a fancy pizza place. For some reason it has become traditional to eat pizza on our anniversary. ;-) This will be a grand adventure because we have not used the metro system much, so we will be learning as we go. While we are down there, we think we will walk around and look at some sights, and try to look like Chicagoans, and not tourists.
