We are here at the conference center in New Jersey, having a nice time!
We got up yesterday at 3 am so we would be ready in time to get picked up -- we were very happy that one of our coworkers drove us to the train station, so we were able to leave our car parked by our apartment building and not have to pay an arm and a leg to park at O'Hare. We didn't realize, though, that there was one place on the subway where the train line was under repair and we had to take a shuttle between stations, so that slowed us down quite a bit -- but we still managed to get to the airport on time. But only just! Our plane boarded right after we got there! We didn't have any checked bags, so that made life easier. We got in to Philly on time and rented a car and picked up another couple who had arrived about the same time as us, and after that, really bad storms came through and caused delays for the rest of the group that was coming. So we ended up sitting at the conference waiting for everyone to come. All arrived safely eventually, and we had a quiet Sunday afternoon and evening getting settled. I was pretty tired by the end of the day, having gotten up at 3 am -- but couldn't sleep until I used my ear plugs, because of jumping children (or maybe it was a herd of elephants!) in the room above us!
Our room is decent, but we don't have a private bathroom, which is a bit of a pain in the middle of the night. I would have brought more presentable pj's if I'd known ahead of time, hehe! :-D Oh, well. The bed is comfy, though! And my earplugs drown out the elephants above, as well as DH's snoring. ;-)
We had morning sessions this morning, but have the afternoon off to do as we please. This conference is as much about relaxing as it is about learning and discussion, so I like that! DH is napping, which I might do as well, but first I want to take a walk around the lake.
