So, this morning, instead of being awakened at 5 am by the upstairs person and their roly poly dog bumping and thumping around -- whom we've never seen, but we know they exist because of thumpy bumpy loud walking and dog and ball bumping noises, and their regular pattern is to thump and bump at 5 am every morning like clockwork.  For this reason, I tend to wear ear plugs or run a loud fan or something to let me sleep a little longer...

Anyway, there was no thumping and bumping last night -- but at 5 am this morning, I am awakened by a different kind of thumping, a musical kind.  Someone was playing loud music, the kind where all you can hear is the bass and drums thumping and maybe a bit of guitar and no singing unless you really listen for it.

The bass thumping was REALLY LOUD.  I thought it was some stupid person in a car going by and it would pass, but it didn't. I looked for my ear plugs and couldn't find them. It was VERY irritating.  I roamed around the house trying to figure out where it was coming from, and couldn't quite pinpoint it -- though it did seem to be loudest in the corner of the house where our bedroom is.  :-/

Eventually it even woke my DH up, and after another more thorough search, we realized with dismay that itreally was coming from -- you guessed it -- upstairs. We are guessing our thumpy bumpy friend from upstairs went away yesterday and left the CD player set to alarm in the bedroom (right about our head, mind you) and it came on at the usual getting up time -- you guessed it, 5 am. So we had to listen to that for almost a full 90 minutes -- just about the length of a music CD. After half an hour of it, I couldn't take it and just got up and showered. My plan was to listen to my own loud music with headphones so that I could drown out theirs, but now it's stopped.

Might as well stay up now, though -- and have some coffee.  But ugh, I feel rather wretched!  Guess I'll have to plan for a nap later on today, and hope that Miss/Mr. Thumpy Bumpy and Dog don't come home right away and turn on their music.

Augh! :(

Augh, indeed! I went back to bed about 8 am, and didn't get up again until noon, so I am feeling a bit more human now!

You are so reminding me of why I wanted a house with no shared walls or roof. Fire was it for me (both an apt building and townhouse building had fires) but oh the noise! I'm sorry, poor you. Take a nap this afternoon.

I decided not to go to church and instead went back to bed and slept 4 hours! I feel better now. The other problem of a shared ceiling/floor is still there, but it makes visiting the refuge of my own house up in Wisconsin all the more pleasant! It's really the only bad thing about this apartment -- well, except for the garbage trucks emptying dumpsters at 5:30 am, hehe! -- and it's not so very bad at that. I can say that now that it's quiet and I'm caught up on my sleep, lol!

Oh, dear that is the trouble with apartment living. I hope you get a good night's sleep tonight, ((((Lin)))).
