There's a word in Urdu -- nichord is about as close as I can get to it in Romanized spelling -- which means "that which is wrung or pressed out; extract; outcome; essence, substance, gist, pith."  One could also say it means "in a nutshell."

So here it is, what I've been up to lately -- wrung out and put in a nutshell.  ;-)
  • I recovered from my flu shot that I had awhile back; it had me down for the count for a couple of days, though!
  • We had a lovely visit recently from friends who spent the day with us and we showed them around Chicago.
  • I went up to Wisconsin for almost a week, and got lots done.  I spent much time with my DS and also spent a night with my dad, at which time I also got to see my brother and my aunt, and talked for a long time on the phone with my sister.  I also visited with the inlaws and got to see some friends from church, so it was a fruitful and encouraging visit.
  • One of the main reasons to go upnorth last week was to rake leaves.  We got a TON of leaves raked up and onto the curb for collecting; there is only one day a year assigned to our street for leaf pickup, so I didn't want to miss that, and I knew DS would be able to manage all those leaves on his own.  It was good exercise, and because I had help, it didn't take so very long.
  • I'm back in Chicago now, getting back into my routine and keeping an eye on DH, who was pretty sick while I was gone.  He's on his way to getting better, but he's not there yet.
  • Living in Chicago has its drawbacks, particularly when one is a Green Bay Packer fan in the midst of Chicago Bears territory.  It was very nice being able to actually watch the Packer game on TV for a change this past weekend -- and even nicer that it was the Bears we were playing against.  ;-)  *grins with much satisfaction at the outcome of the game*
  • I've been struggling with nosebleeds of late -- 6 bad ones in the last week!  It's because of the change in the weather and the dry air, I think; though I suppose my BP being a bit high at the moment is not helping any.  I'm doing what I can to prevent them, and taking masses of tissues with me wherever I go, in case I can't.
  • I really, really, really wanted to post a special post about my mom last week -- the 10th being the six month anniversary of her passing.  However, I didn't get it done.  I'm working on it, though, so it will be put up here eventually.  I think I shall wait now until after the big LJ move.  ;-)
And now a question -- has anyone ever had one of their user icons disappear for no reason?  I noticed that the one I used in my last post was missing, and when I went to check my list of userpics, it was there in the description but the picture was gone, and just showed that broken image link thingy.  Any idea why or how that might have happened?  I uploaded it again, and it immediately was visible in all the places where I had used the userpic previously.  I hope it is just a fluke and that no one has been tampering with my userpics!  Perhaps I should change my password....  The image was this one, though I'm not sure why anyone would want to pick on this poor sleepyhead!
