Hey, I'm getting better at this not posting stuff -- last time I didn't post for two weeks, now I've managed three weeks!  If I practice, maybe I can manage to not post for a whole month...

All is well, in spite of that.  I'm not sure where the time goes, nor am I quite sure why I can come here daily and read everyone's posts and reply to some of them and not actually get around to updating my own journal.  *oops*

Here is some chota mota from the life of Lin:

• A week ago, we had the best weather ever here in Chitown -- 65 degrees and sunny, it might as well have been spring, it was that nice.  Now, of course, we're back to the colder weather again, yet it doesn't really seem as cold as it did before.  Anyway, I'm sure we'll see more snow before long, which will be nice, too -- but I have to admit, I really enjoyed walking outside without my coat on for a day!
• I've discovered I really like riding the bus and the subway/elevated train to get places.  It's such a novel thing for me, being from a smallish town where the only buses were school buses (and I never got to ride on one of those because I was a townie) and the only train was my dad's model railroad stuff in the basement.
• I really like living in the "Little India" section of Chicago, but it hasn't been good for my weight -- I've gained 10 lbs. since moving here!  The food is just way too tasty here...
• We actually got our digital tuner coupons not long ago and were able to buy the digital contraption needed to make our rabbit ears work.  Of course, now they've postponed the date, but we are still (mostly) benefiting.  We get more channels now than we did before!  So many DH doesn't know what to watch and so surfs even more than he used to!  I can't even imagine what it would be like to have cable -- or worse, digital cable.  Too many choices is not always a good thing.  ;-)
• I am horrified to realize that in the last year, I have only updated my Boromir serial tale with one chapter.  Lots of things happened in this past year to derail me, of course, so it's not like I don't have some good excuses to fall back on, but really... One chapter in a year?  What must Boromir think of me?  =:-o  Needless to say, I'm shuffling notes like crazy here and trying to get back into the Boromir groove.

Guess that's all for chota mota from me.  If you can find any real news in here, I'll give you a cookie!

Since you're using the EL and buses you are also probably walking a bit more than usual so I am surprised even delicious local food options would become a problem for your weight. I bet you'll see it melt away along with the last of the winter weather since you'll be outside more often. Yum, by the way! LOL

Boromir and your fans understand...as long as you don't totally forget about us. ;)

My walking doesn't help as much as it could be cause all the distances I walk are so short -- we are too close to everything! :-D As soon as it's a bit warmer, I'll resume my walks in the park. Yum is right!

I blush to say this, but I've only recently found your story on SoA -- what a treasure! Very well written and beautifully imagined. I'm looking forward to reading the next chapter, but believe me, I understand that you'll get it updated when you get it updated. You do have other responsibilities, and Boromir will wait patiently until you have time to write more!

I hope your ministry is progressing apace, and I know you and your DH are being a blessing.

No need to blush or apologize, I actually have just started posting it there, in the last week or so. I actually have about 40 other chapters written that are waiting for posting there (I have it posted in other places in various stages) but I realized recently I didn't have it at SoA as yet. It pleases me greatly to know you have read what I have there, thanks so much!

Our work here is such a blessing to us, we are really enjoying it, and we are happily busy. We seem to fit in very well with the rest of the group here, and they are happy to have us, which encourages us no end!

Second, my theory about art delays is that whatever experience you are having in the real world will only make your art better when you get back to it. I'm not sure if that is a rationalization or not, but I think there is some truth to it.

I believe you are right about art becoming better through life experience. Some things that have happened in the RW have already given me insight I didn't have before into a part of my tale that I haven't come to yet. So that will serve me well when I'm writing it, and it will be a blessing to me in two ways!

And it really is just a delay, isn't it? Things eventually pick up again after a delay, and that's what I'm looking forward to!
