It's June 1st, yay! June is my favorite month, I think, because it's warm and the flowers are out and trees are fully green and it's full of birthdays. My dad will be 84 in a few days, my DS will be 26 a few days after that, and I'll be 52 a few days after that! Yes, I'm not afraid to say it. ;-) Some days I feel older than that in a not-so-good way, but most of the time, I definitely enjoy being middle aged. I get respect but can still be plenty silly when I feel like it, and no one looks at me askance. :-D
The sad thing about it being June is that the daffodils are finished. I think they are my favorite flower, so yellow and cheerful!
June is also the beginning of summer, which means we'll be hearing cicadas soon -- maybe even this month! I don't know why, but I adore those creatures. When I hear one buzzing loudly it just makes me feel really happy! You'll be hearing from me for sure when I hear my first one of the season. ;-)
Even though it's June, It's not as warm as it could be around here -- we've only had one day in the eighties that I can recall. And it looks like we'll be lucky to get to 70 in the coming days. Wonder if it's any warmer in Wisconsin? We had a thunderstorm last night, so it's pretty dark-looking today. But rain in June comes with the territory!
I have been major busy lately, but it's all good. I do need to manage my time better, though, so I can fit more things in like blogging and writing. I was trying to not resort to a List of Doom to keep myself on top of things, but it is not going to work, I"m afraid, so I shall have to get back into making lists. I find I am forgetting way too many things if I don't make a note of it, so it's back to the L of D. I don't mind, I love making lists. It's something I learned from my mom, she was a list-maker extraordinaire! And she never forgot anything or anyone.
This past week was a bit of a struggle, with my DH coping with a sore foot. Last weekend we were up in Wisconsin to do some yard work, and he stepped on a nail! He had the heaviest work boots in the world on, and it still went through. He got a tetanus booster to be on the safe side. It's been hard for him to walk, as the foot is a bit swollen, but it seems to be settling down now. Hope so, because my DH is not himself unless he is running around hyperactively.
I've been struggling with a sore knee of late, probably did something to it a couple of weeks ago -- doing yard work again! But I'm determined to get exercise in spite of it. That's what June is for, after all -- getting out and doing things outside. I think I'll try to do just that, even if it's gloomy out. I don't mind getting a little wet. ;-)
Happy June 1st, my dears!

Date: 2009-06-01 02:04 pm (UTC)From:Youch! Your poor DH! I did the same when playing in flip flops as a child. As I recall it, I ran onto the nail immediately realized something was wrong and kept on running straight to my mother, leaving the flip flop impaled on the nail and a trail of blood in my wake. The tetanus shot was more traumatizing because I had time to think about that, lol! Plus my arm was soooo sore. I hope he didn't have that reaction to deal with.
I hope your list making helps you feel more productive and gives you confidence that nothing important is slipping through the cracks. And enjoy your June!
