linaewen: (Mr. Sharpe)
Here's an update on Friday's Sharpe alert:

"As of 17 July 2004, here are the facts:

ITV have commissioned two new Sharpe tv movies from Picture Palace/Celtic Film, the original producers of the series.

The two films are each 75 mins. long and will be filmed in India in January/February 2005.

The two films will be screened on ITV (UK) in Autumn 2005.

The new stories will be based on Bernard Cornwell's novels set in India, rather than the Peninsular Wars (the setting of the original Sharpe series). The two films will be a combination of Sharpes Tiger and Sharpes Fortress.

The new films may or may not include original cast and crewmembers.

Sean has been approached about reprising his role as Sharpe.

This is the fourth time in the past few years that the idea of a new Sharpe tv show, movie or series has been floated.

- sources, Muir Sutherland (producer of Sharpe), Bernard Cornwell and Chris Clarke (Sharpe Appreciation Society)"

Sounds good! Now if Sean will just agree to do it... Sharpe's Tiger is my favorite of the books, and it will be great to see it on film!

DOH!

i should slow down and be more explicit when i write stuff! what i meant was he is currently filming on the Isle of Man, and we dont have a way to contact him, but if you know what movie it is he is filming, and/or who is producing/directing the movie currently being filmed, i can track down an address to send stuff now.

sorry for the confusion

Double doh!

I guess I should have figured that out, too. Okay, here you go, this is what I know.

The film is The Dark, filming on the Isle of Man since midJune. I would think it likely he is still there.

The second link has a link for contact info for this film company.

Yeah, I think it does. I checked the IoM Government site I gave you above that talks about the film itself, and found that it does give that as the link for the Studio, here:

http://www.gov.im/dti/iomfilm/

That would seem to be what we want, wouldn't it?

so i sent an email there asking if they were still filming the movie and added a bunch of stuff to say i was interested in seeing it in canada etc, and this is the reply i got back:

Dear [....],

Unfortunately I am unable to help with yor request as The Dark wasn't filmed
at our studio.

This is very strange. The Isle of Man site lists the film as being filmed there. Hmmm... I guess just because they filmed on location at Isle of Man doesn't mean they used their studio. :-/

I just looked at the info on The Dark at the SB fansite, and it also lists them as filming at London's Ealing Studios. Would that be of any use?
