I sometimes get a bit down thinking about the future for myself and my family, and wondering why desired change takes such a long time to happen.

But I read a few things this morning in a wee devotional book that were quite helpful in putting me back in a right frame of mind. This is the kind of thing I'm always telling others -- maybe I should listen to myself once and awhile! ;-)

"If I stoop into a dark tremendous sea of cloud,
It is but for a time;
I press God's lamp close to my breast;
Its splendour, soon or late, will pierce the gloom:
I shall emerge one day." (Robert Browning)

"One doesn't discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time." (Andre Gide)

"Growth demands a temporary surrender of security." (Gail Sheeby)

"If God waits longer than you could wish, it is only to make the blessing doubly precious!... Our times are in His hands... He will make haste for our help, and not delay one hour too long." (Andrew Murray)

Ohh, what wonderful quotes. I love them! I am going to save them somewhere - could be that I'll need to read them sometime in the future.

(((((Lin)))) Don't worry -- it'll work out. I'm sure of it. :)

These are wonderful quotes! Think I'll use them for today's devotional. .... you know... in today's picture of Boromir, that ear of his looks almost Elvish... LOL! He'd be horrified I know... well, maybe not so much after his time with Legolas. :-) You are in my prayers. Ladyhawk

Thank you, Lin - I could use a little anti-fretting myself so this is timely. Much appreciated.

((((Prim)))) Glad to be the provider of some encouragement for you -- I'm aware of some of your stress, and I am praying for you in these days, my dear.

could you tell me the title of that wee devotional book? I'd like to read it.

It's something I picked up at Barnes and Noble, called "First Aid for the Spirit." It's a tiny book with a quote on each little page, and beautiful illustrations. I found it in the area with the bookmarks and the gifts. There are other similar books that are just as nice -- I had a hard time choosing! I found another good quote a bit ago, which I will share tomorrow. ;-)

I must have missed it when God handed out lanterns - all I got was a glow stick...but I love the quotes anyway. Although I know how hard it is to feel adrift and wonder what the plan is, ( BOY, don't I know) I am glad that I am not alone in wondering (((((((((((Lin))))))))))))))
