"Could be worse" is my hubby's standard answer to "how are you" -- it usually makes people look twice, do a double take, then think there is something wrong with him. But actually, that's just his way of saying things are fine, and thankfully not worse than they could be.

Well, that's what I'm thinking nowadays, when folks ask how I am after my little incident on Sunday. I am doing well, actually -- I have a nose that is "fairly bulbous" as my son so quaintly puts it, a bruise on my upper lip that looks like a wee Hitler moustache, and a stiff neck to end all stiff necks -- but it could have been much worse, and I am grateful I was spared all that.

I drove our junker car today behind Doug after he got the smashed car out of the impound. The smashed car was quite driveable and it looks like we can get it fixed without too much horrible expense. That is a relief. I didn't have any trouble driving like I thought I might, but I feel as limp as rag now that I am home. I don't know why, but I guess I wasn't quite ready to go out today. Guess I'll do some more resting, and try to ignore the writing project that is glaring at me, saying "due tomorrow, due tomorrow"...

Thanks for all your prayers and strengthening thoughts and encouraging calls and emails, you guys are the best!

You COULD be drained because a certain friend kept you on a the phone for a long time when she should have let you rest. Just a thought. On a selfish note, I am so glad I got to speak with you and make sure myself that you were all right - I meant it, I would have been in your driveway! Glad the Olds will recover without major surgery - and glad that Doug is handy.

Hmmm, funny -- I remember it being ME who kept YOU on the phone for a long time! :-D Either way, it was totally marvelous! And very comforting. I was going to say, next time I'll be sure to give you a call to come -- but there better not be a next time!
