linaewen: (Boromir Happy)
The LOTR Fanclub has upgraded its features and now allows members to upload their own avatars. I've been playing with icons all day today, so played some more by downsizing this icon a bit for use with my posts at the Message Boards. I'll be making 70X70 icons of Boromir now...

For now, I am sticking with this one, as this an image of Boromir which I like very much -- laughing with his friends!

:D yes indeed. not surprised though, actually, since they seem to be all about making money more than anything else....which of course is to be expected as they are primarily a business of course.

it was nice being a member especially since a friend signed me up and paid for it so it was free, but now that the movies are done, i dont see any benefit from joining up again....i mean, what more can they produce to keep the magazines 'current' and interesting, really? (and i desperatly need a certain issue, but have you seen how much they want to charge for back issues? sheesh! ebay'll be cheaper i bet)

Here's a good explanation of the situation, just posted:

So it still costs to become a member, but not as much as if you were subscribing to the magazine.

thanks for the info. dont think i will though. ten bucks for an avatar is a bit steep even in my books, mainly cause i'll never use that 10 dollar credit to purchase something anyway. (besides, wont get anything for 10 bucks, will have to spend another ten - plus exchange, plus duty, and shipping ...nope)

well, the bonus is that if everyone jumps on the bandwagon, maybe i'll be the only one using the current 'strider adjusting boromirs gauntlets avatar' :-D

I sometimes get things from the shop, and I'm glad I'll be able to use my 10% in other places, too -- not that 10% is any good, really -- it barely covers the postage! As you say, $10 is too much for an avatar.

The avatar you have now is one of my fave Strider shots anyway, which I now identify with you. ;-) (I briefly considered using this one as my avatar, as no one else would likely have it, but decided against it, LOL!)

BTW, this icon of yours is very nice, too!

BTW, I see that Decipher is suggesting we put a black border around our avatars. I shall try to figure out how to do that on my own, because it is good for me to do so -- but if I can't, can you help me out? When you get back, of course. Also, once you are back and settled, I will send you the icon or two I want some writing on.

Tanks -- as my boy used to say when he was a wee one. ;-)
