In true Packer Backer fashion, the governor of Wisconsin declared yesterday "Brett Favre" day, to celebrate his 200th consecutive start in a game -- a league record for NFL quarterbacks.
"On Monday, Brett Favre will mark yet another milestone in a remarkable career with the Green Bay Packers," Governor Doyle said. "Breaking this record is a testament to the determination and perseverance that Brett Favre shows on and off the field. Wisconsin is proud of all of the contributions he has made to the game of football, and to our state."
Brett Favre is the NFL's only three-time MVP, and is in his 13th season at Green Bay, which is more than any other player or coach. Among his many career accomplishments are throwing for at least one touchdown pass in 35 consecutive games - a franchise record and the second-longest streak in league history -- which he added to last night! -- and being the third quarterback in league history with 4,000 plus career completions. In last night's game, Brett added to another record -- topping 20 touchdown passes for the 11th straight season. They won the game, BTW. ;-)
Additionally, with the establishment of the "Brett Favre Fourward Foundation" in 1996 and events such as an annual golf tournament, celebrity softball game, and fundraising dinners, Brett Favre has donated in excess of $1.5 million to charities in his home state of Mississippi as well as Wisconsin.
I'm sure you all wanted to know that, didn't you! :-D
