In true Packer Backer fashion, the governor of Wisconsin declared yesterday "Brett Favre" day, to celebrate his 200th consecutive start in a game -- a league record for NFL quarterbacks.

"On Monday, Brett Favre will mark yet another milestone in a remarkable career with the Green Bay Packers," Governor Doyle said. "Breaking this record is a testament to the determination and perseverance that Brett Favre shows on and off the field. Wisconsin is proud of all of the contributions he has made to the game of football, and to our state."

Brett Favre is the NFL's only three-time MVP, and is in his 13th season at Green Bay, which is more than any other player or coach. Among his many career accomplishments are throwing for at least one touchdown pass in 35 consecutive games - a franchise record and the second-longest streak in league history -- which he added to last night! -- and being the third quarterback in league history with 4,000 plus career completions. In last night's game, Brett added to another record -- topping 20 touchdown passes for the 11th straight season. They won the game, BTW. ;-)

Additionally, with the establishment of the "Brett Favre Fourward Foundation" in 1996 and events such as an annual golf tournament, celebrity softball game, and fundraising dinners, Brett Favre has donated in excess of $1.5 million to charities in his home state of Mississippi as well as Wisconsin.

I'm sure you all wanted to know that, didn't you! :-D

"I wanted to know. I think Brett is one of the very few truly "good" role models for kids in the world of sports. He doesn't strike, hit people, talk trash or give out obscene sound bites for fun. He survived his dad passing away recently, and now his wife is fighting breast cancer. He is a great guy.

He sure is! He's my other hero, after Doug and the Big Gondor Guy. ;-)

Big Gondor guy? Hmmm...Anborn? Denethor? Beregond? I'm about out of ideas here, Lin =) And Brett is awesome - he deserves all the accolades he gets.

I adore football, but I am especially a Packer Backer, Cheesehead, whatever. I was born in Wisconsin and my dad taught me early on how the game was played. My hubby played in high school and is equally fanatic about it, hehe!

Sadly my husband is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan although the team hasn't been the same since Troy left( now that's my dream hunk!!) He does like Brett and after seeing a piece on him a few weeks ago he's even more of a fan. He has sure battled some demons.
Sunday football is a religion in this house not only have we been running a pool for the last 8 years we also celebrate American Thanksgiving with a turkey and all the fixin's. Not to mention the 3 TV's in the basement so he doesn't miss any of the action. Yah he's a bit of a nut!!
