After two straight days of my online Word of the Day being exacerbate, I am relieved to see that today's new word is much more settling:
equanimity
DEFINITION: (noun) calmness of mind, especially under stress
EXAMPLE: Roosevelt (insert 'Lin') had the gift of facing the great crises of his presidency (insert 'her day') with equanimity and even humor.
SYNONYMS: aplomb, composure, poise
Hopefully that will be the case today! Hubby and I are speaking about our time in Pakistan this evening to the kids at
pippinswolf's church. Im sure it will be great fun, but I always get nervous before speaking, especially to kids -- as one NEVER knows what they are going to ask you about! :-D
It's going to be great seeing Kimby no matter what! ;-)
**Edited: My equanimity was sorely tested for a bit, as I spent a really long time on hold trying to figure out when my new appointment was for a consultation with a doctor tomorrow. It was changed at the last minute because of insurance issues. It's all cleared up now, and I am once again composed. It turns out they had to switch me to a real doctor instead of a physician's assistant so my insurance would pay for it. Glad they caught that in time -- but it means I have to be up and at 'em bright and early tomorrow for a 7:30 am appointment!
