That's odd... it's quiet in here!

The painters are gone, and it is quiet in my house. It is still messy and discombobulated, and the whole place smells like paint, but it's quiet. It's even a bit warm in the house, at least where the sun is shining in. We had to turn off some of our radiators because they were painted, and then started smoking when we turned on the heat last night. Guess they needed more time to dry or cure or whatever. That was fun -- all the smoke alarms went off and the place smelled wretched! Now, I don't mind the smell of nice clean latex paint -- but smoking latex paint is another matter. ;-)

Only two rooms got done, but they are beautiful. Next up, the dining room, then the upstairs bedrooms. Then the carpet gets ripped up and the floors get redone. Only after all that is done do I get to see the new furniture that has been purchase, but I've seen the pattern and it is gorgeous. Pictures will be shared when it is all ready, don't worry!

I am torn now -- shall I do laundry unimpeded because we are all out of clothes after not having access to the washer all week? Or should I do something fun to take advantage of the quietness?

Yes, laundry is dull, but at least it's automatic here. I remember the days in Pakistan (not so distant!) where my laundry was done with a wringer washer and hung out on the line. Ugh, that was a lot of work!

Yep, that's what I'm going to do. I've got some reading going here which is quite relaxing, and a timer set for the load that's in now -- otherwise I'd get lost in ME and forget about laundry forever and it would sit in the machine until next week. I'm beginning FOTR again from the beginning, just finished the prologue and I'm getting into Bilbo's party. ;-)

I hate to weigh in for boring-ness, but hows about you put in a load of wash, then retreat to the tower? That way you can feel virtuous AND get clean undies!

:-D Yeah, clean undies are boring, but they are vital to life. But so is Tower work. I did a bit, but the laundry kept needing to be put in the dryer. :-/ One more load to go, and then my Tower work can be uninterrupted, yay!

Oi! That's a tough choice. Get some laundry started and then do something fun while it's running. Then you get the best of both worlds.

You be careful too. I don't like the sound of burning chemicals. If it's enough to set off the smoke alarms that can't be good for you. IT's a little scary.
