God is good, and even answers mundane prayers like "please let it work out that I can get my glasses exchanged for ones I can use!"
I went to Lenscrafters this morning, and my timing was perfect, because no one was busy and even the optometrist was loitering about looking for something to do. They took my glasses, heard my complaint, and informed me that I shouldn't have gone with graduated lenses with trifocals. Well, how am I supposed to know that -- they're the people who know these things! ;-) Anyway, they checked my prescription against my old glasses, and the optometrist had a look, too, and decided it would be a good idea to check my eyes out again -- yay, just what I wanted!! He adjusted the prescription just a tad and sent me back to get them exchanged for normal trifocals.
There was a tiny difference in the cost, but they waived the extra charge, so I should be getting glasses that work in about two weeks. I am trusting that they WILL work and that there will be no more of this fussing about not being able to see to read or drive.

BTW, I love the word "loitering." For some reason.
