My Friday flashback
Mar. 19th, 2004 09:43 amIt was a year ago today, I believe, that the bombing began in Iraq, and that was the day the Pakistani government signed the paper that said no to our request for special permission to return to the home they had said we had to leave because foreigners were not allowed to reside in that district. It was shortly afterwards that we decided to return to the States for a time. And we're still here.
A whole year, sheesh!
Our teammates returned just the other day, but the government has written in their visa that they cannot go to the town where we lived and worked together.
Interesting things going on in Pakistan these days; it sounds dangerous, but I don't care -- I still wish I was there. It's hard to forget 18 years of living in a place.
Oh, well -- all in God's timing. We'll get back sooner or later; I can wait. In the meantime, it's not like I'm not enjoying myself!
