My Yahoo word for the day is persevere.

DEFINITION: (adjective) to continue despite difficulties
EXAMPLE: Although a number of unexpected things are happening, Lin continues to persevere with a smile on her face.
SYNONYMS: endure, persist, survive

I'm feeling better today, after my slight illness over the weekend -- in spite of being awakened several times in the night by someone calling the wrong number! :-/ I've got a lot of things going on these days, with extra work in the office, cleaning up after work on the house, a few guests leaving and some more arriving later in the week, along with figuring out what our next steps should be for making progress towards our son's future independence and our return overseas, as well as things I know I should be doing but I can't quite remember what they are...

;-)

In light of all that, the word for the day is quite an appropriate reminder for me to hang in there, and persevere. It made me think immediately of the following passage:

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.... we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:7-8,16-18

My goal for today? To persevere with joy, and fix my eyes on good things, not distressing things. And to try not to worry overmuch about those things I feel like I am forgetting. :-D
