linaewen: (Boromir by juno_icons)
Thanks so much for voting, everyone!  It was interesting watching the votes come in over the course of the voting period, but it was fairly obvious from the beginning which story was going to win.  ;-)

My epic Lords of Gondor came in third with 9 votes and my plot bunny about what Boromir was up to while hanging out in Rivendell for two months came in second with 10 votes.  The winning story, drawing in 13 votes, was this one:

Fandom:  Lord of the Rings
Rating:  all-ages
Type:  gen
Description:  Plot bunny -- Boromir somehow recognizes Aragorn as being Thorongil, who spent time in Minas Tirith when Boromir was a young child. How does this affect their relationship and goals?

I already have some good ideas about where I'm going with it, so that's promising!  I just hope it doesn't get to be another one of those long multi-chapter things I tend to fall into.  In any case, this one needs to be completed by 6 pm on June 24th, so it can't be too epic!  It also can't be so complicated that it takes away from the other things I'm working on -- namely, the stories that didn't win the vote, plus a couple of other big writing commitments.  I have renewed my vows, so to speak, on getting some of my long-time unfinished tales finished, along with being involved in the LOTR Big Bang Challenge.  I'm probably crazy to put myself under all these writing deadlines, but you know what?  It's helping me get back into the writing, and that's a good thing!

I'm only tearing my hair out a little bit in the process.  ;-)

I have so much respect for you! I can't believe you can find time for all this writing!

Sometimes I don't actually find the time, lol! But if I behave myself, I can sometimes balance things enough that I have time for everything.

Did you happen to see the notation that Jackson is
going to be using Thranduil as part of his new film??
I thought it was interesting as it will shed some light on the Woodland Realm elves....who were pretty much ignored in the earlier films save for Legolas.

I'm glad Thranduil will be named in the film. In The Hobbit, the Elf King is important, but unless you are really familiar with LotR, you might not realize that the Elf King is actually Thranduil, as he's never named in the book.

Yes, the Wood Elves really were ignored in the other films, not even hardly a mention of them.

YES extremely pleased as I immediately picked up on it when I read the article...........
I really love the elves and think they should have been honored more in the films.
Given the Lothlorien elves died at Helm's Deep, it would seem only fitting.
I find it kind of suprising that given they were NOT at Helm's Deep, and also the twists that Jackson used e.g. when they left the mines of Moria,
and fled to Lothlorien, it was Legolas, not Aragorn, who spoke with Haldir....
BTW do you know this site?

I would like to read all the top 3 stories from your poll. And I am impatient about the next chapters for Big Bang challenge. :) How is it going? Any news?

You are the best cheerleader! Big Bang has been a bit stalled lately, but I'm getting organized to start in again. I should be able to send you some stuff soon. It's a nice quiet Sunday afternoon, perfect for writing. You came in the nick of time to stop me from wasting it surfing the net. ;-)

The link to Lords of Gondor is here -- I'll be adding a new chapter or two soon:

The other two aren't written yet, but I'll let you know when they are!

You have been marvelous in your patience, and it is my daily prayer that I not fail you by making you wait any more!

We are getting ready to go on a week-long trip that involves some speaking at a conference, but much of the time will be free (I hope!!!) and I plan to spend all my free time writing, writing, writing.
