linaewen: (Shades National Treasure)
I had a great weekend! It was a real weekend, too, as in nothing pressing, no deadlines, do work if you want, but if you don't -- don't! The house was spiffy after my cleaning exertions of Friday, and I even did more work when I didn't have to because I was in the cleaning mood. We had guests overnight Friday, but they were very nice, and left in time on Saturday for us to run out and see the last matinee showing for the day of National Treasure.

I have been so keen to see this film! I admit, it was because of Sean Bean, but truly, I have never been disappointed by a film he has appeared in. My Hubby is beginning to believe me when I say Sean Bean = good film. ;-)

We had a great time! Hubby is still talking about it, which means it was a great film. :-D The film was clever, fun -- not to mention very funny! -- and exciting; just tense enough to be enjoyable, but not to the point we couldn't take it. We liked the story (critics can quibble that it was preposterous, but we thought it held together just fine), and the tidbits of history were worked in in quite a fascinating way. Whether the truth was stretched or not, it didn't matter to us, because it fit with the intention film story. It made me want to go out and learn more about some of those places and people -- and that's what a good movie does. There was no strong language or nudity, and all the actors were very comfortable in their roles, and it showed in the quality of their performance.

And of course, Mr. Bean looked good, and was in the film A LOT, and though he was the chief villain, he wasn't evil, and he wasn't stupid.

I'd go again today, if I didn't have to work. This is one movie we will be purchasing for sure.

:-) A lot of people are saying the same thing- hope I will be able to coax someone to see it with me (hint, hint).
Glad you had a great weekend, love.

Ooooo, may I take that hint? We might have to discuss this possibility, hehe!

Thanks for the review! We've been talking about seeing it. I like that it's only PG (not 13 or 17), so Meghan can come too. Our local reviewer was lukewarm about it, which is reassuring to me, since his taste, if any, is in his mouth. Hope to see it over next weekend.

his taste, if any, is in his mouth LOL!

I'm not sure why the reviewers are so lukewarm -- I've heard nothing but good words from viewers.

This idiot will give a movie a lousy review and then 3 out of 4 stars. He was lukewarm about ROTK - imagine! I generally figure if he doesn't like a movie, it must be good. Personally, I'm looking forward to "suspending disbelief" for a couple of hours.

By the way, have you heard anything about Finding Neverland? I saw a "making of" and it looked good. Of course, it has Johnny Depp, so how could it not look good?

Sean never looks bad, does he? Could Doug see the resemblance or did he choose to ignore it and remind you that its all in your head? I'm glad your L-O-Doom was not on your mind this weekend and that you were able to go and do something you really enjoyed. You deserve it so much!

I am so glad to hear you liked the movie. I had heard nothing but bad reviews, so this encourages me. Now I really want to see it!

LOL
